CUB BACKERS

Our mission is to support Big Bear Middle School students, teachers and administrators in various school events. BBMSCB is a non-profit organization. Monies that are raised through BBMSCB are used to purchase the students Reminder Binders, Teacher and Staff Appreciation and we are currently working on providing Teachers with "Three Wishes".

The Cub Backers meetings are open to any parent, faculty member or administrator of BVUSD. Our meetings are held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 3:00pm in room 6.

Letter to BBMS parents

August 2007

Dear BBMS Parents:

The BBMS Cub Backers Booster Club is very excited about supporting the students and staff that make up our school community. As club president, I would like to introduce our organization and board, as well as encourage your active participation and commitment.

In a nutshell, your Cub Backers club provides financial and in-kind support for BBMS, its students, teachers, administrators, families, and community. We fund valuable student tools like the reminder binder, School year refrigerator magnets, staff student dances, make site improvements, procure classroom supplies, and back staff and teacher appreciation programs, to name only a few.

We are different than Parent Teacher Associations (PTAs), where parents must register and pay to join. All BBMS families automatically belong to Cub Backers. BBMS is blessed with a tremendously talented group of Cub Backer families that have historically moved many a mountain. But with today’s erratic statewide educational budget cuts, our BBMS school community has even more peaks to climb in the years to come to ensure that our children have the best educational experience possible.

In effect, we have all returned to middle school now with our children. Although it would appear that everything has changed since our day, nothing really has. You see, regardless of what a child might say, most like seeing their parents involved in their school life. In fact, some experts believe that these middle school years are when our children need us most. And there is much to do every single day, and as Cub Backers, we are committed to continually identifying how we can all make a difference at BBMS today and everyday.

We really need parent volunteers to make this all possible for our kids and their teachers. We meet on the second Wednesday of every month at 3 p.m. in Room 6. Please pencil these critical dates on your calendar today. If you are unable to attend these meetings, be sure to give us your email address so that you can be kept in the loop. There are many ways to support your children and their school. Our next meeting on Wednesday, September 12 at 3pm. Please join us in supporting our children, their teachers and their school!

Sincerely,

Malissa Parker Forry
